COTTON

Cotton – with the exception of denim – can be a delicate material prone to holes and wear. Only wash when truly necessary.

Cotton can shrink both in the wash and in the dryer. Wash at low temperatures and let garments air dry in the shade whenever possible.

To maintain its shape, cotton should be stored folded or on a wide, high-quality hanger. A sweatshirt can easily be hung, while a loosely woven T-shirt is best kept folded.

DEMIN

Denim fades with frequent washing. Only wash when necessary – and always turn it inside out.

If your denim isn’t visibly dirty, you can refresh it by placing it in a sealed plastic bag in the freezer for 24 hours.

Especially during the first few washes, denim may release dye. Wash with similar colors – and only when needed.

Denim benefits from being air-dried outdoors, but to avoid sun bleaching, always dry it in the shade.

SYNTHETICS

Acrylic, polyester, nylon & PU

Synthetic materials – especially polyester – can develop odours quickly when exposed to sweat. Wash your garments the same day and avoid leaving them in the laundry basket. Wearing a cotton undershirt can help reduce sweat odour.

Synthetic fabrics do not tolerate high heat – they can wrinkle or shrink permanently. Always follow the care label. Acrylic should never be washed above 40 °C.

Most synthetic materials dry quickly. Hang them outside to dry and avoid using the tumble dryer.

Synthetic fibres release microplastics during washing. Use a laundry bag, such as Guppyfriend, to catch them and protect the environment.

Synthetic fabrics may shrink during washing.

To return the garment to its original size, iron it gently while still damp. Be careful not to use too much heat.

REGENERATED CELLULOSE

Lyocell, viscose & modal

Regenerated fibres are sensitive to washing and may shrink if treated incorrectly. Always check the care instructions before washing.

Hang your viscose and lyocell garments to dry to prevent wrinkling and shrinkage in the tumble dryer. Store them on a good-quality hanger to help maintain their smooth appearance.

If your garment becomes wrinkled during wear, washing or storage, we recommend steaming it to remove the creases.

Steaming is gentler than ironing, but use it sparingly.

Viscose may shrink during washing. To return it to its original shape, iron the garment gently while it’s still damp.

Be careful not to use too much heat, as this may damage the fabric.

wool

Wool is naturally self-cleaning and rarely needs washing. Air your wool garments regularly and wear a layer underneath to keep them fresher for longer.

When washing is necessary, always use the wool cycle on your machine and a detergent specifically designed for wool.

Wet wool fibres are delicate and can break. Always dry wool garments flat on a surface – ideally on a towel over a drying rack.

Wool is both delicate and often heavy. Don’t hang it on a hanger, as it may lose its shape. Store it folded instead.

Wool coats and blazers should be hung on a wide, high-quality hanger. When they need cleaning, they should always be professionally dry cleaned.

DOWN

Down products don’t need frequent washing – in many cases, a quick wipe with a damp cloth is enough.

When washing is necessary, always use the delicate cycle and a detergent designed specifically for down. Adding a water-repellent treatment can help maintain the fabric’s performance.

Down must be completely dry to avoid unpleasant odours. Set aside plenty of time – drying may take up to 3 hours in the tumble dryer.

Dry with dryer balls or 2–3 clean tennis balls to keep the jacket fluffy and full in shape.

SILK

Silk is a protein fibre, just like wool, and cannot tolerate regular detergents – they may damage the fibres. Always use a detergent specifically formulated for wool and silk.

Silk is fragile and should be washed on a delicate cycle at low temperatures.

Never soak silk, as it can cause staining and ruin the fabric’s appearance.
